Microsoft Deploys AMD Helios AI Racks on Azure in Landmark Chip Partnership Expansion

Summary :

AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) announced an expanded strategic partnership with Microsoft (Fortune 500 #15) spanning GPUs, CPUs, networking and software on Azure, including deployment of the AMD Helios Rackscale Solution with Instinct MI455X GPUs and 6th Gen EPYC “Venice” CPUs for frontier AI inference. AMD shares surged 5%.

Microsoft Azure will launch two new VM series — HDv2 for agentic AI/data pipelines and HXv2 for semiconductor design — both powered by EPYC Venice. AMD silicon will integrate with Azure Boost for enhanced cloud networking. Helios shipments to customers, including Microsoft, are targeted for H2 2026. CEO Lisa Su called it a “milestone” for next-generation AI infrastructure, while Satya Nadella said the deal gives customers additional options for AI training and inference.

Why Selected:

The first rack-scale AMD AI platform going to the world’s #2 cloud provider is a structural shift in AI silicon competition — this is no longer just about GPUs, it’s about full-stack infrastructure.
